Commonwealth Countries League

The Commonwealth Countries League was founded in 1925 and brings together women from across the Commonwealth to promote equality and co-operation. Its Education Fund is a central part of its work, providing secondary school bursaries for girls in Commonwealth developing countries who would not otherwise access secondary education. The League represents the shared values of the SLWA — community, education, and the advancement of women.

5 Beneficiary Causes

Fundraising events each year direct proceeds to five established charities spanning the UK and Sri Lanka — from blindness relief to children's welfare.

Charitable Support

Our Beneficiaries

Proceeds from SLWA fundraising events are directed to these five organisations. Each represents a cause the SLWA has chosen to stand behind — locally, nationally, and in Sri Lanka.

United Kingdom

Save The Children Fund

Save the Children works in the UK and in over 100 countries to defend children's rights and deliver immediate and lasting change in their lives. Their work spans emergency relief, education, and healthcare — ensuring no child is left behind. The SLWA directs fundraising to their UK programmes.

Greater London

Greater London Fund for the Blind

The Greater London Fund for the Blind has supported people with sight loss in and around London for over a century. It funds practical services, wellbeing initiatives, and grants for people living with visual impairment — enabling independence and a fuller quality of life.

UK & International

LEPRA

LEPRA is a British charity working globally to support people affected by leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, and other neglected tropical diseases. Founded in 1924, LEPRA provides treatment, rehabilitation, and advocacy for some of the world's most marginalised communities across Asia and Africa.

United Kingdom

Children & Families Across Borders

Children & Families Across Borders (CFAB) is the only UK charity specialising in international social work for children and families separated across borders. It helps to protect children in international family situations and reunite them with loved ones. The SLWA supports CFAB by hosting a stall at their annual fair.

The SLWA participates in the CFAB annual fair, hosting a stall to raise funds and awareness.
