SLWA Xmas party 2024
The annual SLWA Xmas party was held on 7th December 2024, at The Churchill Residence Hall, Churchill Gardens, Pimlico.
A delicious Sri Lankan meal was served, followed by games, a raffle, music, Carol singing & dancing.
The President welcomed guests, and a good time was had by all who attended.

Alms giving at the London Buddhist Vihara.
On Saturday 5th October 2024, members and friends gathered at the London Buddhist Vihara, for an alms giving to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the SLWA.
Members brought cooked food, flowers & pirikara for the Buddha pooja and 5 resident priests.
The association was blessed for all the good work done over the last 75 years.
SLWA Sponsored walk
A sponsored walk was held on Saturday 7th September 2024, at St James’s Park London.
The weather was pleasant and the walk was enjoyable.
All proceeds will go the SLWA Education Scheme this year.
SLWA 75th Anniversary tea
The SLWA in the UK celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a high tea at the House of Lords, on the 19th July 2024.
120 members & guests attended.
Sue Clarke, President SLWA, welcomed the guests and spoke about the history of the SLWA & the fund raising activities.
Lord Naseby & a representative of the Sri Lanka High Commission, Mrs Hiruni Rajapakse also spoke.
Music was provided by Jupiter, a string quartet.
Every guest had two souvenirs to take away.
The weather was warm and a good.
It was truly an occasion to remember.
SLWA working together with SERVE
The SLWA Education Scheme has provided funding to SERVE, to give scholarships to a few Social Work degree students.
SERVE is a non profit organisation working towards the empowerment of people, especially women & children.
Sanjeewa De Mel, Director of SERVE, is a committed community development professional. Their banner carries the SLWA logo.
These are a few of the students who benefitted from the scholarships from the SLWA Education Scheme.
National New Year's day
SLWA celebrated National New Year’s day on the 20th April 2024, at Churchill Hall, Churchill Gardens, Pimlico, London.
Musical instruments "for" Boyawalana MV
The SLWA Education scheme provided funds for Boyawalana M V, Keppitiwalana, to purchase musical instruments. They now have adequate instruments to perform at special events
